Coach Steve Thompson said after the match against an older, more experienced and at times robust Chester side: "We had a very young team without any first team players in it - the team gave 100 per cent, but we didn't create enough in the final third."
Thompson also singled out 'keeper Mark Halstead who has been offered and accepted a scholarship at Bloomfield Road.
"We want to bring the local talent through because it is important for the future. He has had a few niggling problems, probably due to growing pains as much as anything, and he will be joining us as a scholar."
