Second String Hammer City
The Seasiders reserve team recorded their first win of the season in emphatic style on Wednesday when they crushed Manchester City at the regional atheltics arena in Manchester.
Pool who included David Fox, Rory Prendergast and Ciaran Donnelly in their starting line up were also able to call on trialist Greek winger Nikolaos Galas who received international clearance just 90 minutes before kick off.
Steve Thompson's men began brightly with Fox instrumental in the centre of midfield, the former United man appeared to be relishing the prospect of locking horns with City's talented youngsters.
Ciaran Donnelly playing a free role in front of midfield put Pool into the lead with a great finish after some great approach play involving Fox and the impressive Matt Kay.
The lead was doubled shortly after half time when some quickly taken Rory Prendergast free kick left the keeper rooted to the spot.
Matty Kay put the game out of reach mid way through the half with a great piece of skill following a great move down the Pool right, ten minutes later Sean Paterson completed the rout with a smart finish.
On the performance a delighted Steve Thompson said, "This was an excellent performance, we passed City off the park at times and we could have won by a bigger margin. The lads have shown a great attitude and have bounced back from last week's poor showing and I was delighted with the performance. I know City had a young side out but many of those involved were involved in last season's FA Youth Cup final which shows they are no pushovers. As I said everyone worked hard and we fully deserved the three points."
