The Seasiders reserve team continued their charge towards the top of the Pontins League Division One (West) last Wednesday evening when they ran out 3-0 winners over Rochdale.

Sean Paterson got Steve Thompson's men off to the perfect start with less than two minutes on the clock, The third year scholar latched onto a great through ball before calmly whipping a sweet finish into the bottom left hand corner.

The visitors could have been back on level terms on ten minutes after weak back pass to Les Pogliacomi was chased by Clive Moyo-Modise, the big Aussie did well to beat the livewire striker to the ball but was disappointed to see his clearance charged down by Thompson, the ball eventually fell to Ben Kitchen who could direct his finish well wide.

Sean Paterson came close to adding a second just before the half hour, whilst fellow scholar Kevin Brown was lucky just see a yellow card after he brought Moyo-Modise down on the edge of the area.

Both teams were finding the playing surface difficult to read and it came as no surprise there was no further addition to the scoreline before the break.

Pool began the second period in the same manner as they started to the first, although the second goal did have a touch of good fortune, Njazi kuqi drilled a low effort towards goal and saw his strike rebound the six yard area like a pin ball, eventually the ball somehow looped beyond the keeper, but quite who had the final touch is anyone's guess.

Rochdale did have the ball in the net midway through the half when the impressive Moyo-Modise fired home only to see his effort disallowed for a foul inside the 18-yard area. The resulting free kick saw the Seasiders counter at pace with Matthew Blinkhorn rounding of the move with a sublime finish.

Sean Paterson squandered a great chance to make it 4-0 shortly before the final whistle, the young striker found himself one on one with the keeper but was denied by a great block.

The reserves are next in action on Monday 20th February when they travel to Deepdale to take on Preston North End.

Pool: Pogliacomi, Warrender, Edwards (Clancy 70), Brown, Burns, Wiles, Vernon (Shaw 70), Goulding, Bagdagi, Paterson, Kuqi (Blinkhorn 50)
