SIMON Grayson believes Saturday's opponents Plymouth Argyle are the ideal team for the Seasiders to model themselves upon when looking to become an established Championship side.

The Pilgrims, who are currently 10th in the division, are now in their fourth season of Championship football and, as the sides prepare to meet, Grayson believes they are a club who have set the standard for promoted clubs.

"I remember playing them when I was here as a player that they got promoted and they've stayed in the Championship for the last three, four years or so, and that's what we've got to model ourselves on," he said.

"We've all got to have our big aims and ambitions but the realistic aim is to make sure we establish ourselves and we're here for many years to come, and then build and try and get to the Premiership."

Plymouth have been in and around the play-offs for a large part of the campaign but have drifted somewhat in the last few weeks. Promotion is now out of the equation for the home side but Grayson feels they will want to end their season on a high.

I think up to a couple of weeks ago they were within the outskirts of being in the play-offs," Larry said. "They've had a draw last week against Preston, and Sheffield Wednesday the week before.

"They've got some talented players, a squad that, again, was around about the play-offs for a long time in the season. They've just fallen away slightly but Paul will obviously want to be finishing on a high. It's their last home game of the season and you want to finish the campaign on a positive manner ready to start again for next year."

The manager has challenged the Seasiders to do the same and has set his side the target of getting 'as many points as we can'.

"It's another big game for us. We want to try and get as many points as we can in the next two games, finish as high as possible as we can in the division and then we can look back at the end of the season, wherever we finish, that we've had a good season. Obviously, if we finish further up, then it's even better for everybody," he added.
