Claus Jorgensen admits the Seasiders are yet to be assured of safety despite victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Jorgensen set Pool on their way to three points against the Owls with the first goal inside six minutes and the win over Wednesday looked to be enough to see the team back in the Championship next season.

But the midfielder believes the ever-changing situation at the bottom of the table makes it hard to judge whether 53 points would virtually assure safety.

"I thought it would be," Jorgensen said. "I thought 51 was going to be enough, but mathematically we're not safe. After next weekend things can all be blown wide open again if a couple of results go wrong for us, so we're not safe yet.

"This year this division is really strange, it's so open and tight. Mathematically, 53 points like we've got, we could still get relegated. It's really open but 16th position sounds good!"

Claus is not one to rest on his laurels and now wants the Seasiders to finish the season off on a high with victories over Plymouth and Watford in the final two games of the season.

After promotion last season, survival in the division would be another great achievement on the midfielder's CV, with a team that Claus feels has a fantastic 'team spirit'.

He said: "I would be really, really proud because personally, getting promoted in the first place I'm so proud of that and proud of my teammates and everyone here.

"I think we are working sometimes against the odds and I think a lot of clubs have better facilities and they've an advantage a lot of the time, but what we definitely have, if we haven't got anything else, we've got team spirit - and that is massive. I think this is the best team I've played in when it comes to team spirit, definitely," he revealed.
