Crystal Palace Preview
SIMON Grayson has a number of injury worries to assess prior to the game at Crystal Palace tomorrow, as Pool look to back up last week's performance at Stoke.
The news has been both good and bad for the manager this week, as the Seasiders look to win at Selhurst Park for the first time since October 1973.
Grayson hopes to be boosted by the return of Paul Dickov from a hamstring injury, if the striker can prove his fitness in training today. Keith Southern remains a doubt after missing the last two games, while John Hills will hope to shake off a knock picked up playing for the reserves on Wednesday.
Michael Jackson came through his return in the same game on Wednesday but it is likely that he will play a further reserve outing before rushing back.
New signing Scott Flinders is unavailable for the game due to an agreement with his parent club Crystal Palace, while other new loan recruit Joe Martin may miss out with a slight knock picked up at Tottenham.
Crystal Palace could be without Paul Ifill but could give debuts to loan signings Scott Sinclair, Kyel Reid and Nathan Ashton in the game.
A win at Crystal Palace on Saturday would take the Seasiders onto 52 points for the season and just one point away from the safety target set by manager Simon Grayson earlier in the season.
With six games remaining, the manager is 'positive' that Pool can reach mathematical safety in the division and he hopes that can start at Selhurst Park tomorrow.
"We're gradually getting there and it's never easy to win football matches at this level but the players are doing ever so well. If we can win at the weekend and get another point after that against West Brom, or three, then that should be us safe," he said.
The battle at the bottom of the table has really intensified in recent weeks and the manager feels that as long as the Seasiders concentrate on their own game they won't need to keep looking over their shoulders.
"A lot of people are now looking at what everybody else is doing and what other fixtures they've got coming up but all we've got to do is concentrate, as we have done all season, on our own performances and try and be positive with every game that we go into.
"We've just got to get as many points as we can and let other people take care of themselves and see where they end up getting. Hopefully, sooner than later, we've got enough points to make sure that we're safe mathematically and then we can sort of enjoy the last two or three games of the season," he added.
