In one of the National papers on Wednesday morning ran a story stating the Tottenham new coach knew nothing about Blackpool nor did he care, by 10pm Mr Ramos and the multi million pound squad certainly knew about The Seasiders and the Tangerine Army, to a man the Seasiders players and travelling supporters did the club proud on another night, things may have been different, but losing 2-0 to the multi million pound Spurs who have a new manager is far from a disgrace.

Pool made three changes to the starting line up with Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Michael Jackson and Michael Flynn coming into the side for the injured Keith Southern, cup tied Matt Jackson and Danny Coid who was joined on the bench by fir again Andy Morrell, Andy Welsh, Claus Jorgensen and Marcus Bean.

Pool backed by a fantastic support got things underway and the Tangerines were soon on the attack, earning a free kick on the edge of the area after less than 30 seconds, Steve Crainey saw his left footed strike cannon into the wall, whilst Wes Hoolahan's follow up flew well wide.

Keigan Parker's pace earned Pool a corner after Paul Robinson hesitated, David Fox stepped up but Spurs cleared for a throw in on the Pool right. Pool continued to press and Shaun Barker's deflected cross was hooked wide by Kaspars Gorkss.

After the opening couple of minutes of Pool pressure Spurs earned a corner after Stephen Crainey was forced to turn Aaron Lennon's cross behind, fortunately for Pool, the defence stood firm and cleared the danger.

Didier Zokora tried his luck for the hosts on five minutes, the Ivory Coast international signed for £8.2 million saw his curling effort fly just wide of Rachubka's right hand post.

Aaron Lennon's pace down the right was always going to cause Pool problems and on 9 minutes almost brought about the first goal, his low cross almost found Berbatov but Shaun Barker beat the talented striker to turn behind for a corner.

David Fox rattled the outside of the post on 14 minutes, the midfielder was sent through on goal by an exquisite ball from Keigan Parker, the ball came back out to Fox but he could only direct his second finish wide of Paul Robinson.

With Martin Samuel for the Sun commenting on how well Pool played, Spurs took the lead and it was route one, a long clearance from Paul Robinson was nodded on by Berbabtov to ROBBIE KEANE who raced forward and calmly slotted past the advancing Paul Rachubka.

Despite being in arrears, Pool continued to get the ball down and play and the Seasiders slick passing game and resilient defending began to frustrate the home side and their supporters restricting their illustrious counterparts to long range efforts and speculative shots.

A David Fox free kick on the stroke of half time forced Paul Robinson to come through a crowd to punch clear, the ball fell to Gary Taylor-Fletcher who fired over.

Half Time Spurs 1 Pool 0

The second half began in the same fashion as the first and Pool could and perhaps should have been back on level terms when Gary Taylor-Fletcher stole in at the far post to head Keigan Parker's great cross against the crossbar.

At the other end Robbie Keane almost doubled Spurs lead when he fired wide after Berbatov had sent the Irish international clear.

On 49 minutes Shaun Barker almost connected to a David Fox free kick, but the ball just eluded the full back's forehead as Pool continued to show they were not in awe of their Premiership opposition.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher forced Paul Robinson into a brilliant reflex save after he got on the end of a Wes Hoolahan cross.

Pool were made to pay for their missed chances on 58 minutes when the Spurs big men blocked Michael Jackson which allowed PASCAL CHIMBONDA to nod a corner home.

Paul Rachbubka was forced to turn a Jermaine Defoe strike behind for a corner, the substitute showed a great turn of pace to latch onto a long punt forward.

Midway through the second half Pool made a double change with Danny Coid replacing Michael Jackson and Andy Morrell replacing Scott Vernon.

The changes saw Shaun Barker move to centre back alongside Kaspars Gorkss..

Pool made their final change of the evening on 77 minutes when Andy Welsh replaced Michael Flynn.

With three minutes remaining Paul Rachubka denied Defoe with a brilliant save, the Pool stopper flicked away the England internationals snap shot.

Every man in Tangerine be it a player or a supporter did the club proud, it was an experience no one will forget.
