The Seasiders kept up their so far unbeaten home record in The Championship despite failing to find the net in a 0-0 draw with Plymouth.

Pool may have thought they could have just edged the game with one or two chances going begging as neither keeper was ever really tested.

It was a case of The Jacksons at Blackpool before and during the game as Larry named Matt Jackson, on a months' loan from Watford in his starting line-up alongside captain Michael.

The Pilgrims started with Nick Chadwick alongside Sylvan Ebanks-Blake while Simon Grayson opted to rekindle the Andy Morrell and Keigan Parker partnership by including the Scot from the start.

The other significant change in the line-up was the return to fitness of left-back Stephen Crainey following a hamstring injury.

Before the game Bloomfield Road paid it's respects to Bill Perry as the club held a minutes silence for the '53 FA Cup here.

The Pilgrims were the quickest out of the blokes to force Paul Rachubka into action after he was forced to punch a looping cross out for a corner inside the first minute with Ebanks-Blake looking to get something on the ball. The resulting corner also forced another punch from 'Chubs'.

Pool's first chance of the game could well have been a goal. Great work down the right hand side from Keigan Parker to turn inside and out and float a ball to the back post only for Wes Hoolahan to fire over on the volley in space.

Nick Chadwick then forced a header straight into the hands of Rachubka after his earlier flick on with the head was tamely struck by Ebanks-Blake.

Then again inside the first ten minutes The Seasiders could and maybe should have scored after an inviting ball into the box from David Fox was side footed over by Shaun Barker from six yards out.

It was then Fox's turn to go for goal after great work from Wes Hoolahan to thread the ball through to Keigan Parker. Parker then held the ball up before laying it off to the supporting Fox, who after composing himself struck his shot straight at Luke McCormick.

Just after the half-hour mark, The Pilgrims created their best opening of the game after Peter Halmosi had a strike from the left parried by Rachubka with Ebanks-Blake then looking to hit the rebound in only for Stephen Crainey to clear the ball off the line.

Following a free-kick that hit the wall from Crainey, Pool then had what could have been considered maybe their third great chance of the game. Wes Hoolahan played the ball through for the breaking David Fox to race clear and with Luke McCormick running out he looked to lift the ball over the keeper only for the effort to go wide.

Shouts for a penalty when Andy Morrell looked to have been brought down in the box were waved away late on as Pool and Plymouth went in at the break 0-0.

HALF TIME BLACKPOOL 0 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 0

The second half started relatively quiet in comparison to the first with barely any clear goalmouth action.

That meant that Ian Holloway became the first of the managers to look to change things when he introduced striker Barry Hayles for Nick Chadwick (55) before giving on loan Manchester United youngster Lee Martin his Argyle debut (60).

Just before the arrival of Martin, Gary Taylor-Fletcher may have hoped to have done better with his strike when clear on the right but his deft touch failed to trouble the keeper.

In the 68th minute The Tangerine army thought the breakthrough had come after good work down the right between David Fox and Shaun Barker saw Barker play a great ball into the box. It was Keith Southern charging in who got his head to it and as Pool fans began to celebrate the ball cannoned back off the post.

In an effort to get the so far elusive goal, Simon Grayson made his first change of the game when he brought Scott Vernon on for Andy Morrell (69). Claus Jorgensen was next to make an appearance when he was brought on for Keith Southern.

As the game went into the last 10 minutes the urgency within both sides suddenly increased as either side looked to take all three points late on.

A sublime mazy run from Wes Hoolahan resulted in a strike from David Fox but it was another effort that failed to test the keeper. Moments later a strike that was very much similar to Fox's from Keigan Parker also ended up in the hands of the keeper.

As the clock ticked down with less than three minutes remaining Barry Hayles set himself for his first real chance of the game, forcing Paul Rachubka to push the ball wide to the right and out for a corner.

An almost immediate impact from late sub Andy Welsh could have created the assist for a winner but his cut back failed to find any support at the edge of the box.

Keigan Parker had a chance deep into injury time but couldn't get the ball out of his feet fast enough to beat the keeper.

The result means The Tangerines remain unbeaten at Bloomfield in The Championship and indeed at home since last February. With an international break now looming The Seasiders now don't return to action until the 20th October when they entertain Crystal Palace.
