Prior to the game with Scunthorpe Simon Grayson said Pool just needed that little bit of a break to get the results their performances deserve.

It took a 73rd minute header from Kaspars Gorkss to separate the sides but it was a game The Seasiders completely dominated with Scunthorpe barely threatening Paul Rachubka in the Pool goal.

Any other result would have been an injustice to the lads who finally picked up another home win.

The second-half was stepped up a gear from the first and finally got the goal that gave the side a vital three points going into the international break.

Yet prior to the second-half it was the curse of putting the ball in the back of the net that seemed to be the problem again.

Despite going in at 0-0 at half-time, The Seasiders dominated the first half and could have easily been a couple of goals up.

With Gary Taylor-Fletcher starting the game on the left, Wes Hoolahan was given the chance to work his magic down the right hand side.

It was Wes who had a hand in the first real chance of the game and probably the best of the half when he played the ball through for Keigan Parker to race clear (8). With the Scotsman one-on-one with the keeper it looked odds on that the striker would open his account for the season but his strike went straight at the sliding Joe Murphy.

Just a minute later, Andy Morrell then had the chance to score after Keigan had this time pulled the ball back but his effort was fired over.

Although Pool were not capitalising on the breaks both Wes and Keigan were giving Scunthorpe left-back Kelly Youga a torrid time at left-back. The passing of Wes and the pace of Parker outfoxed the on-loan Charlton man on several occasions.

In the 28th minute Pool looked to have taken the lead and made the domination count but Claus Jorgensen was adjudged to have handled the ball when gaining his composure to slide the ball home. Many Pool fans were hoping for the penalty after the referee had called play on as Keigan Parker was fouled as he attempted to play the ball to Claus but the linesman had other ides and disallowed the effort.

Kaspars Gorkss later pounced on some hesitation in the Iron box from a corner only to see his volley fall straight into the hands of keeper Joe Murphy.

It left Pool going in at half time level for the umpteenth time this season.

The second half continued as the first left off with Pool in the ascendancy with Hoolahan continuing to tease The Iron defence. Claus Jorgensen was the first to have a real crack at goal and his strike deflected narrowly wide.

As Scunthorpe looked to change the flow of the game, Nigel Adkins replaced strikers Paul Hayes and Martin Paterson to introduce Marcus Williams and Jonathan Forte. It was Forte who made an immediate impact when he struck just wide from the edge of the area in what was Scunthorpe's best effort of the game.

As ever though, Pool were never to give up and a corner ball caused panic in the Iron penalty area with the ball flicked back at the far post for an unmarked KASPARS GORKSS to head the ball into the bottom corner (73) to make it POOL 1 SCUNTHORPE 0.

The final stages of the match were played out in midfield as Scunthorpe pushed for an equaliser and Pool looked to spring the counter attack.

It was a tense final three minutes of added time but in the end it was a Pool victory as The Tangerines look to climb back up the table once more.
