City got things underway and the visitors were soon on the attack Rhys Evans twice dealt with dangerous corners in the opening five minutes the Pool stopper was forced to turn behind for a corner following a sweet strike from Wayne Andrews.
Having weathered the early storm Pool should have taken the lead on 14 minutes, Wes Hoolahan expertly slid in Scott Vernon who saw his strike parried away by Basso straight to Adrian Forbes who saw his first time volley saved by Basso.
A minute later Steve Brooker forced Evans to turn behind for a corner with another rasping effort.
Wayne Andrews must have attended the Darren Huckerby school of tackling because on 19 minutes the former Colchester man sent Shaun Barker tumbling with an awful challenge from behind more amazingly was that Andrews didn't even receiving a talking to off referee Clive Oliver let alone a yellow card.

6 minutes before the break Keith Southern saw a low curling strike turned behind for a corner by Basso but David Fox's set play was taken with ease by Basso.

Having dominated the opening stages of the second half Pool found themselves one down when WAYNE ANDREWS fired the Robins into the lead on 53 minutes
Keigan Parker fired a snap shot straight at the keeper shortly after the goal.
The hour mark saw Wayne Andrews hit the post as Bristol continued edge proceedings.
Shaun Barker saw a shot from distance whistle just wide on 63 minutes.
Pool made a change on 67 minutes when David Fox gave way for Simon Gillett
A minute later Adrian Forbes gave way for Ben Burgess as Pool threw everything forward.
Richard Keogh went close with a glancing header on 73 minutes.
With 12 minutes remaining Pool made their final change with Claus Jorgensen replacing Paul Tierney.
Steve Brooker flashed a shot just wide on 79 minutes a minute later Keigan Parker once again found himself through on goal after a great ball from Simon Gillett, but once again the Scot fired straight at Basso.

Three minutes before the end Keigan Parker fired a free kick straight into the defensive wall.
Ben Burgess almost put back on level terms in stoppage time, but his finish grazed the post seconds later Keith Southern fired just over whilst Ben Burgess saw a bullet header well saved by Basso.
