After the now customary pre-kick off huddles the hosts got things underway attacking the end where some 1,000 Pool fans were housed, and in the opening seconds Lee Jones was called upon twice in quick succession, the first saw the big Welshman punch clear a teasing free kick, the second saw Pool's number one collect a teasing cross from the right..

For Pool, Keigan Parker's pace almost created an opening stages whilst the Seasiders were almost gifted an opener after Paul Rachubka dropped Dean Gordon's swirling cross, fortunately for Huddersfield, the former Charlton stopper was able to collect at the second attempt despite being under pressure from John Murphy.

Lee Jones had to be alert again on six minutes, Andy Booth's flick on saw Pawel Abbott spring the offside trap, but Jones raced off his line to block at the feet of the former North End front man.

Only a last ditch challenge from Peter Clarke on Chris Brandon minutes later prevented Huddersfield from opening the scoring, the former Chesterfield midfield man made the most of an awful piece of defending from Tony Butler to find himself through on goal, Clarke timed his tackle to perfection to put the ball behind for the corner. The resulting corner saw Pool suffer a relapse of "cornerphobia" allowing TOM CLARKE to nod home after failing to clear the danger.

Pool's new look defence of Marc Joseph, Peter Clarke, Tony Butler and Dean Gordon was looking vulnerable at best and on 14 minutes Huddersfield squandered another glorious chance whilst seconds later Pool eventually managed to clear another teasing corner.

Pool were denied an equaliser on the quarter hour when Paul Rachubka at full stretch managed to get a finger to Peter Clarke's head after Keigan Parker's free kick had caused mayhem in the Hiuddersfield goal area.

John Murphy saw header fly straight at Rachubka after the big striker got on the end of a great cross from Lewis Gobern.

Lee Jones produced another fine block midway through the half to deny Tom Clarke after Huddersfield cut open the Pool back four with a string of neat passes.

Ian Morris shot tamely at Rachubka on 25 minutes the young winger had done well to cut in from the left flank but the finish let the Irishman down.

Huddersfield who had been forced into an early change with Mirfin replacing McIntosh saw Andy Booth head a Schofield corner over.

Pool's best chance of the half fell to Keigan Parker, the livewire Scot raced onto a great through ball from Keith Southern, but the keeper somehow got a touch to the ball and turn behind for what should have been a corner. The decision wasn't the first nor the last bad decision from the referee.

Half Time Huddersfield Town 1 Blackpool 0

The interval saw both sides make a change with Pool replacing Ian Morris with Ciaran Donnelly, the change saw Wilcox move to the left hand side of midfield with Donnelly operating alongside Keieth Southern in the Seasiders engine room.

After just 15 seconds of the second period half time substitute Taylor-Fletcher should have made it 2-0, the front man who scored the Terriers goal at Stamford Bridge found himself through on goal, but could only direct his finish wide of Lee Jones right hand post.

Marc Joseph picked up a booking for splitting up a case of hand bags at ten paces shortly before switching to centre back after Danny Warrender replaced Tony Butler. Butler left the field slowly and was clearly not impressed with the decision.

Ciaran Donnelly picked up a yellow on 58 minutes after a late challenge on Brandon.

Pawel Abbott should have been shown the red card on the hour after a cynical late challenge on Peter Clarke left the Pool skipper reeling around in agony. The referee seemed content to book the Huddersfiled man.

Peter Clarke joined the ever growing list in the referee's notebook on 65 minutes after a challenge on Brandon.

An awful ball from Jason Wilcox was intercepted by Taylor-Fletcher and the substitute should have made it 2-0 having gone past three Pool defenders with ease the striker was disappointed to see his finish go agonisingly wide with Jones beaten.

Pool made their final change of the afternoon with Scott Vernon replacing Lewis Gobern, the change saw Keigan Parker move the right hand side of midfield.

With 18 minutes remaining Huddersfield made it 2-0 when Worthington was upended inside the area by Marc Joseph, the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, Danny Schofield stepped up to take the kick and saw his initial effort brilliantly pushed away by Lee Jones, but unfortunately for the Seasiders SCHOFIELD had followed his strike and slammed the rebound into the bottom left hand corner.

Both sides had a couple of half chances before the final whistle, but the three points remained in West Yorkshire.
